City Awarded Money To Make Improvements To Baltimore Ave

Last week it was announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded $737,620 to the city for improvements to Baltimore Avenue as an integral corridor in the Central Business District.  While some question while such a blighted area would be the beneficiary of a grant that perhaps could best be used elsewhere- City Administrator Jeff Rhodes emphasized that Baltimore Avenue has been in poor condition many  years an that the engineering department always wanted to repair the street and do it the right way.  This will give them the resources necessary to do the job correctly. Mayor Brian Grim tells WCBC News that Baltimore Avenue is a main thoroughfare that will improve access to the Allegany County Health Department, Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Allegany College of Maryland and Interstate 68…
