The City of Cumberland is advising the public that the CSX owned Washington Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic as a result of a recent engineering inspection. The bridge will be closed by end of the business day Friday April 8, 2016 remain closed for an undetermined period of time. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians at this time but motorists are advised to use Allegany Street, Greene Street and Lee Street as a detour around the bridge. While the City regrets this inconvenience, public safety is most important and cooperation of the motoring public is appreciated.
