City Council and Western Maryland Delegation Meeting May See Fireworks

A January 5th meeting between the Cumberland Mayor and City Council and the Western Maryland Delegation could see some lively debate given the recent public comments made from each side expressing clear differences of opinion on plans for addressing the problem of combined sewer overflows.  Earlier in December when the delegation met with the Allegany County Commissioners, Mike Mckay who is leaving county office, having been elected to the House of Delegates, was critical of the city for not cooperating when it comes to plans for a new CSO system. In response, city administrator Jeff Rhodes expressed surprise with the county’s take on the issue:
