Just before 10 PM Saturday, Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Fayette Street residence for an assault in progress.
Officers arrived and found both parties separated but still on the scene. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that an assault did occur prior to their arrival. The victim had visible signs of injury to her person. It was also discovered that a small child in the home was also assaulted. None of the injuries required medical treatment.
Officers attempted to take Cody Lee Clise into custody when he attempted to strike one of the officers. A brief struggle ensued Clise was taken into custody. He was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing. Clise was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.

Charges: 2 counts of 2nd degree assault, Child abuse 2nd degree, Resisting arrest, and Intoxicated endangerment
