City Man Arrested on Assault and Weapons charges

On Friday evening officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to Columbia Street for a reported assault.  Once on the scene the officers contacted the victim of the reported assault.  The victim told the officers that she had been arguing with her husband, John Adam Snyder.  According to the victim, during the argument Snyder choked her to the point of unconsciousness.  Once the victim regained consciousness she locked herself in a bedroom until the police arrived.

Due to victim’s statement and the visible signs of injuries the officers placed Snyder under arrest and transported him to the station.  Two firearms were also seized from the residence, due to the assault and threats that had been made to the victim.

Once at the station, contacted was made with the Maryland Gun Center.  According to the center’s data base system, Snyder is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to prior criminal convictions.

Snyder was later transported to the District Court commissioner’s office for his initial appearance. As a result of the hearing, Snyder was released on his personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.

John Adam Snyder, 41 Y/O, Cumberland, MD

 

Charges:

Assault 1st degree, assault 2nd degree, reckless endangerment, 2 counts of regulated firearm illegal possession, illegal possession of ammunition.
