On Saturday, Cumberland Police responded to the Downtown Mall area for the report of an assault in progress.
Upon officer’s arrival on scene, several witnesses pointed out a male suspect who was attempting to leave the area. He was stopped, detained, and identified as Louis Levi Brown, 64, of Cumberland MD. Contact was then made with a male victim as well as witnesses to the assault. All advised that Brown walked up to the victim and struck him in the face for no apparent reason. The assault caused facial injuries to the victim which did require medical attention.
As a result of the investigation, Brown was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. Brown was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.
Arrested: Louis Levi Brown Age: 64
Charges: Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct.
