May 26th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County States Attorney Mike Twigg  announced on Tuesday that Charles Bret Parker Jr, 34 of Cumberland, was convicted of two counts of felony theft.  Judge Tim Finan of the Circuit Court for Allegany County, sentenced Parker to twelve years in the Maryland Division of Corrections, suspending four years of the sentence.  In January of this year, a search and seizure warrant was executed at Parker’s home in Cumberland.  Evidence seized at the scene was positively identified as having been taken during two separate burglaries in Allegany County in December of  2014.  While there was no direct evidence to tie Parker to the burglaries, evidence did show that he knowingly possessed the stolen property that was recovered, constituting the crime of theft.  Parker indicated he had bartered for those items, by exchanging other unidentified goods and services. The case was investigated by the C3I Unit and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.  Assistant State’s Attorney Erich Bean prosecuted the case.  Mr. Parker was represented by James Elliott, Esq, of the Public Defender’s Office.
