City Mandates Bags for Solid Waste Pick-Up

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council this week approved legislation updating provisions pertaining to solid waste pick-up- specifically adopting mandated use of plastic bags. The request came from Burgmeier’s Hauling- the company which provides trash collection service for Cumberland. The provision will require trash to be contained within a sufficient plastic trash bag as opposed to loose items being discarded in a trash container. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes…

    With what we are paying for this service they shoukd take what they always have. Maybe cumberland needs to look into another service provider

    That is BS, all they have to do is pick up the can and dump it in the back of the trash truck. Next mandate will be you must go out and assist them putting your trash in the truck. All this for $180 a year, come on elected officials….DO YOUR JOB representing the Citizens of Cumberland!!! This town continues to get worse & worse.

    How about letting those who want to opt out of it. If I have to bag everything I may as well just take it to the county landfill for a lot less money

    Grim had a hissy fit with the previous collection firm and here we are. This is small potatoes compared with what’s going to happen when our local government gets outwitted by some crafty carpetbaggers and sells them our water system. Grim’s near-doubling of the sewage rates will seem like the good old days.
