City Meeting with CSX

Cumberland officials met Thursday with representatives of CSX Transportation further discussing a possible design choice for Fayette and Washington streets- while also examining a final design for the Cumberland Street bridge. With CSX paying for a new bridge for Fayette Street that will likely allow that crossing to be the first completed- with estimates sometime in 2021. The three West Side bridges have been closed for months after failing safety inspections- while a fourth bridge on Baltimore Street also needs repairs- although that structure is not part of the CSX talks. Mayor Ray Morriss, participating in his first negotiation session with CSX, told WCBC News that he felt the more than two hour meeting was a productive one…
