City Moves Closer To Finalizing FY 2018 Budget

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council moved one step closer Tuesday to finalizing the FY 2018 budget – complete with a nearly 10% tax hike. The council approved a series of first readings of ordinances covering the tax rate; water and sewer rates and the general fund.  The proposed budget, in addition to the tax hike, the proposals include some alterations to employee health care contributions; implements a 5% across the board cuts to all department; and cuts three police officers and two firemen positions.
