November 19th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The City of Cumberland and the Downtown Development Commission (DDC) jointly present a virtual tree lighting ceremony in celebration of the holidays. Join us on Friday, November 27 at 6:00 PM as Mayor Raymond Morriss and special guests host our favorite holiday tradition in a new virtual format. This event will be LIVE STREAMED via Allegany Media for all to enjoy. To encourage social distancing, everyone is asked to enjoy the Tree Lighting in the warmth and comfort of their homes. The livestream

will begin around 5:45 with holiday music and a countdown clock. While watching the tree lighting, all are encouraged to share a picture of your family in their favorite cozy pajamas. Use the hashtag #cumberlandchristmas on Facebook and Instagram. The City will pick some favorites to share on social media The livestream will be available on Allegany Media’s Facebook and YouTube pages, as well as online at  www.alleganymedia.com/live. To watch on your TV, open up the YouTube App on your favorite streaming device and search for Allegany Media. The livestream will also be shared on the City’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/cityofcumberlandmd.

The “Shop Small Win Big” contest will take place on Small Business

Saturday the following day (November 28), where we will be giving away

$1,000 in cash prizes to shoppers who purchase from small businesses.

This is a great way to support the local businesses that have been

impacted so heavily this year. Two free hours of downtown parking will be

offered from Thanksgiving through the end of the year.
