City Officials To Begin Interviewing City Council Candidates

Beginning this afternoon and continuing through Thursday- the Cumberland Mayor and City Council will be conducting interviews of the 16 applicants vying to fill the vacant city council seat. The seat opened in November when then council member David Caporale was elected to serve as an Allegany County Commissioner- forcing him to vacate the seat for the remaining two years of the term. The names of the applicants, at the advice of legal counsel, have not been released to the public- and while not a popular decision, Cumberland’s next mayor Ray Morriss said he understands the rationale…
