City Police Arrest Two on Burglary

July 19th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

On Tuesday night at approximately 11:51 p.m. an officer from the Cumberland Police Dept. responded to a Greene Street business for a burglary in progress.

Upon the officer’s arrival he heard glass breaking on the side of the business.  The officer then proceeded to that area and observed a subject climbing out of a broken window from the interior of the business.  The subject refused to comply with the officer’s commands.  Due to the subject’s actions and the criminal activity taking place, the officer deployed his department issued electrical controlled weapon (TASER).  The subject was taken into custody at this time, and was identified as Georgia Renee Resh.

Resh was transported to the WMRMC by the Cumberland Fire Dept. due the Taser deployment and injuries sustained from the broken glass.  After being released from the hospital she was transported to the police station for charges and processing. Additional investigation at the scene revealed a second suspect and a vehicle that was used during the commission of the crime.

An attempt to locate was broadcasted by the dispatch center for the second suspect and the vehicle.  A short time later a deputy from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol in the area of W/B Industrial Blvd. where he observed the suspect vehicle.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and observed the second suspect, Mark Paul Jackson was operating the vehicle.

Units from the Cumberland Police Dept. responded to the traffic stop location and placed Jackson under arrest.  Jackson was transported to the police station for charges and processing.  The Cumberland Police Dept. was assisted by the Maryland State Police – Cumberland Barrack and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
