City Police Busy with Theft, Disorderly Calls

Trespassing

On Wednesday, at 1236pm officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to an apartment complex located in the 200blk of Baltimore Ave in reference to a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted an employee of the property who advised that they observed an individual enter the property who had been previously served with a no trespass order. Officers then located the subject and identified him as 33 year old Michael Wentling of Cumberland on the property. Wentling was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters where he was issued a Maryland Criminal Citation for trespassing and released pending trial in District Court.

 

Theft

On Wednesday, Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 1000blk of Frederick St in reference to a theft from a motor vehicle. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that person(s) unknown entered their vehicle and removed several items of value. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Dept at 301-777-1600.

 

Theft

On Wednesday at 6:38pm officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located in the 700blk of Park St in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival officers contacted store employees who advised that they observed a male subject conceal an item of value and attempt to leave the store without paying for the item. The subject was approached by store employees and was identified as 67 year old Mugdim Kazazic of Cumberland. Kazazic was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters where he was issued a Maryland Criminal Citation for Theft Under $100.00 and released pending trial in District Court.

 

Hit and Run

On Wednesday at 8:15pm Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to the 600blk of Columbia Ave in reference to a hit and run. Upon arrival Officers contacted the victim who advised that an unknown vehicle had struck their parked unattended vehicle and pushed it into a second parked vehicle. Officers observed damage to the driver side rear quarter panel and bumper areas to the victims vehicle. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Disorderly Conduct

On Wednesday at 9:08pm an Officer with the Cumberland Police Dept was working a security detail at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center when they were advised of a disturbance in the ER area. Upon the Officer’s arrival he observed a male subject yelling at staff disturbing the operations of the hospital. The subject was advised several times to leave the property and to stop yelling in which he did not comply. At this time officers placed 24 year old Charles Michael of Cumberland under arrest. A search incident to arrest led to the recovery of several medical items that were removed from the room in which Michael was visiting. According to staff, Michael was not permitted or advised that he could remove the items. While investigating the disturbance a female subject approached the area and began yelling at officers. After several orders advising the female to stop creating a disturbance and her failure to do so resulted in the arrest of 20 year old Tessa Harding of Cumberland. Both subjects were transported to Police Headquarters where Harding was issued a Maryland Criminal Citation for disorderly conduct and released pending trial in District Court. Michael was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order, Disturbing the Peace, and Theft Under $100.00. Michael was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was released on personal recognizance pending his next court appearance.
