City Police Make Arrests for Assault; Domestic Assault

The following is the Cumberland City Police press release for Monday, March, 28, 2016:

 

 

ASSAULT

On Sunday March 27, 2016, at 12:53 am, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a private residence in the 100 block of South Allegany Street for a reported Assault.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Jason Wiley, age 28 of Cumberland assaulted the female victim by striking her in the face with a closed fist causing visible injury.  Wiley fled the area but was located by officers on Cumberland Street.  He was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  After his initial appearance at the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office, Wiley was released on an unsecured $3,500.00 dollar bond.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGE:  Assault 2nd Degree.

 

WARRANT SERVICE

On Sunday March 27, 2016, Cumberland City Police served an Arrest Warrant on Gordon Whitfield, age 25 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued by a private citizen who alleged that on March 25, 2016, in the area of the Downtown Mall, Whitfield assaulted her and two other individuals she was with.  Whitfield was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing.  He was held on a $3,000.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victims in this incident did not require medical attention.

Gordon Whitfield, age 25.  Cumberland, Maryland.

CHARGES:  Assault (3 counts), Affray, Disorderly Conduct.
