City Police Make Assault Arrest

On Thursday, December 20th, 2018, The Cumberland City Police responded to a Prospect Square address for the report of an assault in the residence. Once on scene, Officer contacted the parties involved. It was learned that two family members were in the home trying to complete repairs on the residence when an altercation began. The altercation turned physical and a male victim received injuries during the alleged assault. As a result of the officer’s investigation, Anthony L. Chalkwater was placed under arrest for assault and transported to the station for processing. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was released on his own personal recognizance.

Arrested:  Anthony Louis Chalkwater   Age:  48

Charges:   Assault Second Degree

On Thursday, November 15th, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department responded to a W. First Street address for an assault in progress complaint.  When officers arrived, a female was contacted with a visible injury to her face.  A witness at the residence identified as Phillip Scott Skelley as the suspect responsible for the victim’s injury.  Skelley was placed under arrest and charged with 2nd degree assault.  He was later taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.
