City Police Make Assault; Disturbance Arrests

Assault Arrest:

On Monday, May 30, 2016 at approximately 3:00 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to the area of Footer Place for a reported assault.  Upon arrival Officers heard a female yelling.  Officers interviewed several people and determined Kathy Knisely was at the residence to retrieve some of her belongings.  An argument ensued and Knisely assaulted a female victim at the residence.  Officers attempted to speak with Knisely who immediately left the residence and continued to cause a disturbance outside.  Several people in the neighborhood were disturbed as a result of Knisely yelling.  At this point Knisely was placed under arrest for assault and disturbing the peace and was transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  She was charged, processed and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office.  She was then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.

Arrested:

Kathy A. Knisely, age 18, Cumberland, MD

Charge: Second degree assault, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the peace and Failing to obey a lawful order of a Police Officer.

 

Disturbance Arrest:

On May 30, 2016 at approximately 5:30 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to a Gephart Drive address for a report of a disturbance.  Officers had been to the same area earlier in the day and spoke with John Plain and advised him not to cause any further disturbances.  Upon the Officers arrival this second time they could hear loud yelling coming from inside the Gephart Drive residence.  They attempted to make contact with a female resident.  While speaking with this female John Plain began to yell from inside the residence.  Officers warned Mr. Plain to keep his voice down to prevent a disturbance.  Officers continued to speak with the female and Mr. Plain again continued to yell from inside the residence.  Officers warned Mr. Plain two more times to keep the noise down.  At this time several neighbors were gathering as they had been disturbed by Mr. Plain.  Officers advised Mr. Plain he was under arrest and he closed the door to the residence and went inside.  Officers followed him and after a brief minute placed Mr. Plain under arrest.  He continued to yell as he was removed from the area.  He was charged, processed and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office and released pending trial in District Court.

Charges: Disorderly conduct, Disturbing the peace, Resisting arrest and Failing to obey a lawful order of a Police Officer.

 

Criminal Warrant Arrest:

On Monday, May 30, 2016 Cumberland Police Officers served a criminal warrant on the following individual:

Arrested:

Taryn Hartley-George, age 32, Cumberland, MD

Charge: Violation of Probation on a an original charge of CDS Paraphernalia

She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
