City Police Make CDS Arrest

On July 14, 2016 at 6:21 pm. Officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Sheetz on Greene Street in reference to male inside the store acting suspicious.  Upon the officers arrival they contacted the subject identified as Andrew Scott Crites.  Crites informed officers that he was upset with the service he was receiving at the store.   Officers were also contacted by a customer who informed them that there was a hypodermic syringe inside the store where Crites was standing.  Officers questioned Crites about the syringe and asked him if he would consent to a search of his person.  Crites agreed to the search and officers discovered Crites to be in possession of prescription narcotics that were not contained in the proper bottle.  The pills were identified as a schedule two narcotic.  Crites was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Crites was taken before the District Court Commissioner and later held in the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.

Charge: CDS possession not marijuana.

CDS Arrest

On Thursday, July 7, 2016 a Cumberland Police Department Officer observed a vehicle operating with an expired registration plate and travelling above the posted speed limit.  The Officer made a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Colleen Crossland.  While speaking with the driver the Officer detected the smell of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  After a search of the vehicle the Officer located an amount of Marijuana as well as CDS paraphernalia.  It was also determined that Crossland was driving on a suspended Maryland driver’s license.  Crossland was issued several traffic citations and a civil citation for the Marijuana. She was released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.

Warrant Arrests

On Thursday, July 7, 2016 Cumberland Police Officers responded to a residence on Columbia Avenue for a reported assault.  Upon the Officer’s arrival he spoke to the female victim.  She stated the suspect, Zachariah Kenner, was making harmful statements and becoming upset.  The suspect continued to be angry and grabbed a baseball bat and struck the female in the rib area.  Kenner then also jabbed the bat into the victim’s chest area.  The victim left and called the Police.  Officers contacted Kenner who admitted hitting the female with the bat and stated the female was taking his things.  Kenner was then placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Health System for injured ribs.  Kenner was processed and taken before the Allegany County District Court Commissioner. He was then transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his bond hearing.
