City Police Make CDS/Theft & Disturbance Arrests

On Tuesday, August 23, 2016 Officers from the Cumberland Police Department were called to a Virginia Avenue business in reference to a theft.  Upon their arrival Officers spoke to an employee of the business regarding the theft.  The employee stated they confronted the suspect outside of the store and he returned the items.  The suspect left the area prior to the Officer’s arrival.  The Officer identified the suspect through the business surveillance camera.  Officers were then directed by a citizen to the location of the suspect.  The Officers responded to a York Place residence and located the suspect, David Christifer.  Christifer admitted to the theft.  Officers then placed him under arrest.  At the time of the arrest Officers located drugs on his person.  Christifer was transported to the Cumberland Police Department, processed and taken to the District Court Commissioner’s Office.  Christifer was released on his personal recognizance to await trial in Allegany County District Court.

David Christifer, age 50, of Cumberland, MD

Charges: CDS Possession other than Marijuana, Theft less than $100 and CDS removal of Prescription label.

 

Disturbance Arrest

On Tuesday, August 23, 2016 an Officer was on patrol in the area of the 100 block of Virginia Avenue.  The Officer heard a male and female arguing.  He stopped and advised the subjects to cease the disturbance and to leave the area.  A short time later the Officer was in the area and observed the same subjects and the female was yelling and preventing the male from leaving the area.  The Officer then exited his vehicle and  again began talking to the subjects.  The female once again began yelling.  The Officer then placed the female, Christy Wolfe, under arrest.  She was transported to the Cumberland Police Department, where she was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.
