On Tuesday August 5, 2014, at approximately 9:00 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to Allegany High School for a disturbance on the baseball practice field.  At the time of the incident, students were practicing for the upcoming band season with school staff members being present to oversee and supervise the activities.  Officers made contact with staff members who advised that an individual who was later identified as Brandon Simpson, walked onto the practice field for reasons unknown.  Simpson proceeded to disrupt the practice by yelling and cursing.  Simpson was further observed pulling out a pocket knife and climbed onto the scaffolding that is used for practice and continued his disruptive actions.

The students on the field were safely evacuated into the school.  As officers attempted to approach, Simpson fled into the woods behind the baseball field into the direction of the Allegany Highlands Trail.  Officers were unable to locate him after an extensive search.  As a result of the incident, charges were filed at the Allegany County District Court.  On Wednesday August 6, 2014, Simpson was served with a Criminal Summons as well as a No Trespassing letter issued by the Allegany County Board of Education.  Simpson was released pending trial.
