City Police Make Firearm Arrest

On June 26, 2018 at approximately 11:58 PM the Cumberland Police were called to an alley behind W. First Street for a person carrying a handgun.  A description of the suspect was provided to police responding to the area. As police arrived they observed the suspect, identified as Shawn Cody Nida, in the alley.  Nida was seen leaning over a fence as if he was trying to discard something. Police were able to detain Nida while they conducted their investigation, which included several witnesses being interviewed.  Police checked the area where he was seen leaning over the fence and located a .22 caliber revolver. Nida was placed under arrest and charged with Handgun on Person, Illegal Possession of Regulated Firearm, and Disorderly Conduct.  Nida was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond on a temporary commitment. He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his next appearance in District Court.

Shawn Cody Nida:  28, Cumberland, MD

Charges:  Handgun on Person, Illegal Possession of Regulated Firearm, and Disorderly Conduct

    Hey, i used to go to school with shawn nida, where he was arrested for marijuana possession, assaulting his mother, he’s nothing but a trouble maker is all he is, he will probably end up in prison one day.
