On September 8, 2019, at 9:15 p.m., officers from the Cumberland City Police responded to the 200 block of Greene Street for a shoplifting complaint. When officers arrived they contacted employees of the business about the theft.  Officers were advised that Terry Ford Jr., age 19 of Cumberland had taken items into the bathroom and attempted to hide them on his person.  Officers contacted Ford and the items were recovered.  Subsequently, Ford was arrested and charged on a Criminal Citation for theft under $100. Ford was then released pending trial in District Court.

On September 8, 2019, 3:42 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of W. Oldtown Road for a report of burglary in progress.  Upon arrival officers located Trevon Emerson, age 26 of Cumberland, inside the complainants residence.  Officer who responded to the burglary had previously dealt with Emerson at the same residence during a 2:50 a.m. disturbance complaint.  During the original complaint Emerson had been told to leave the area and not return.  Officers learned while investigating the burglary complaint that Emerson had returned and threw an object through the window.  Emerson then entered the property by reaching through the broken window and opening the door. Emerson was placed under arrest and charged with destruction of property less than $1000, 4th degree burglary, and disorderly conduct.  Emerson was later provided his Initial Hearing in District Court, and was released on his own recognizance pending trial.
