City Police Make Theft & Warrant Arrests

On April 11, 2017 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Martins Market located at 739 Park Street, for a shoplifting complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they were advised by store management that, William Edward Murphy was being detained for stealing items from the store.  Murphy admitted to the officers that he attempted to leave the store without paying for an item.  Murphy was issued a criminal citation and later released from the scene.

 

Arrested: William Edward Murphy                      Age: 61 of Cumberland, MD

Charge: Theft less than $100.

 

Arrest Warrant Served

On April 11, 2017 Cumberland City Police served an arrest warrant on Nancy Lee Kosinski, age 64 of Cumberland, Maryland.  On April 3, 2017, Kosinski reported to the Cumberland City Police that while she was incarcerated between the dates of March 27, 2017 and April 3, 2017 she allowed a friend to stay at her residence.  Upon her release she returned to her residence and found several items missing from her residence to include a refrigerator belonging to Aarons’ rental.  Kosinski provided officers with suspect information at the time of the report.  On April 4, 2017 officers received an anonymous tip that Nancy Kosinski had sold the items she reported stolen to include the refrigerator belonging to Aaron’s.  As a result of this information, charges were filed against Kosinski resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for her arrest. Kosinski was processed, served and taken before the District Court Commissioner.  Kosinski was held in the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

Charges: 2 Counts of theft, Obstructing and Hindering and False statement to an Officer.
