On Thursday, September 6th, 2018 the Cumberland Police responded to a vacant residence on Bedford Street for the complaint of an unknown male entering the residence. When officers arrived, they spoke with witnesses who stated that they watched a male enter the vacant residence. Officers located the male identified as Mathews Mark Norris who admitted to being in the vacant residence without permission. He was arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary. Norris was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a $5,000 bond.
