City Police Respond to Assault; Disorderly Conduct Calls

The following is the Cumberland City Police report for April 19th, 2016:

 

 

WARRANT SERVICE

On Tuesday April 19, 2016, Cumberland City Police served an Arrest Warrant on Jude Smith, at 29 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The warrant was issued as a result of an Assault investigation that officers responded to on April 18, 2016 in the 400 block of Maryland Avenue.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Smith allegedly engaged into an argument with another male that was present.  As the argument escalated, Smith produced a knife and went after the victim.  Once the two were outside, the sound of police sirens ended the incident.  No medical assistance was needed.  Smith was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing.  Smith was held on a $15,000.00 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

CHARGES:  Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Dangerous Weapon, Disturbing the Peace.

 

DISORDERLY CONCDUCT

On Tuesday April 19, 2016, at 11:54 am, Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for an individual refusing to leave.  Officers arrived and made contact with Dario Thornton, age 24 of Cumberland who was the individual who was asked to leave by the property owner.  As the Officer attempted to obtain Thornton’s information, he became belligerent and started screaming profanities at the Officer.  Thornton was warned to lower his voice but continued his actions in the presence of other property owners.  Thorton then fled from Officers but was caught and placed in custody.  He was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing.  He was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

CHARGES:  Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, Fail to Obey, Obstructing and Hindering, Resisting Arrest.

 

 

ASSAULT

On Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 5:39 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Virginia Avenue for an Assault.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Taylar Lapinski, age 23 of Cumberland, bit the victim on his forearm and stomach and allegedly cut his forearm with a knife as a result of an argument that led to this assault.  Lapinski was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where she was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing.  She was held on a $5,000.00 dollar bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.  The victim did not require medical attention.
