City Retains Whitman, Requart And Associates To Investigate Water Main Break Issues

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council has retained Whitman, Requart and Associates to investigate water main break issues on Decatur Street.  Last year there was a major break that caused damage in the area of Decatur and Glenn Streets- and in 2014 a similar water explosion damaged homes and businesses in the area. City officials confirm that over the past three years there have been countless water main ruptures and water line breaks in virtually every part of the city- but Decatur Street has experienced more frequent problems. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes says while the city water department has been examining the ongoing issues- the city hopes Whitman, Requart can identify more specifically any problem areas and offer potential solutions…
