The Cumberland Mayor and City Council has taken action to create more open and improved lines of communication between law enforcement agencies across the region. On Thursday, the council approved an order authorizing Cumberland’s Chief of Police to enter into a memorandum of understanding with Maryland allied law enforcement agencies to create and operate the Western Maryland Information Center (WMIC) which will be responsible for the collection, evaluation, collation, analysis and dissemination of illegal criminal activity information.
