City Teen Busted Twice In The Same Day

On Saturday, April 11, 2013 at approximately 10:20 a.m. the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Pit N Go located in the 300 block of Frederick Street in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with a store employee who stated that a male subject was in the store and stole scratch off lottery tickets.  The employee stated that that she was busy in the store and she observed this subject near the scratch off ticket rack.  The employee stated that this rack makes a distinct noise when tickets are being pulled.  The employee heard this noise and when she later checked she observed damage to this rack.  Store security was reviewed which captured this same subject reaching into and tearing off lottery tickets before entering the stores restroom.  The officer reviewed the footage of the suspect and was able to obtain clear still photographs of the suspect.  The employee was able to provide more information about the suspect which led officers to his residence. 

A short time later the investigating officer observed this subject who was identified as Christopher Scott Cook in the area of N. Centre Street.  Cook was contacted and issued a criminal citation charging him with theft.  Cook was released from the scene pending further action at District Court at a later date.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 2:25 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in reference to a disturbance.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the subjects involved in the disturbance.  One of the subjects, Christopher Scott Cook was contacted.  During a consent search the officer located a baggie of marijuana in his pants pocket. 

Arrested:

Christopher Scott Cook – age 18 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Theft less than $100.00

Civil citation for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams.

Criminal citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
