The Cumberland Mayor and City Council will conduct its first budget work session today at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The session is open to the public and will see the comptroller and city administrator outline the city’s current and projected fiscal condition as well as providing a detailed look at the overall picture. Last year the city came under fire when the council approved a nearly ten percent hike in taxes. While a pledge was made at that time to work toward lowering the tax rate perhaps as early as this year- Mayor Brian Grim said it’s too early to make any predictions…
