City To Use Grant Money To Upgrade Marbles Facility At Constitution Park

This past summer, marbles players from around the country converged in Cumberland to participate in the U.S. Marbles Championship at Constitution Park. It was the second straight year that the city has hosted the tournament which is named the Mason Cup in honor of C. Eugene Mason, the city’s former parks and recreation director and former director of the National Marbles Tournament, which is held each year in Wildwood, New Jersey. The hope is that the next time the city hosts the tournament; significant upgrades will have been completed. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes announced this week that the city has accepted a grant for close to $180,000 that will be used to upgrade the marbles facility in Constitution Park…

    Hopefully they can chauffer the mibsters right to and from the facility in windowless vans so they can go home with a good impression of Cumberland.
