City Votes 4 To 1 To Increase Property Tax Rate By Nearly 10%

By a 4-1 vote Tuesday night the Cumberland Mayor and City Council voted to approve the city’s FY 2018 budget, including a 9.7% increase in the property tax rate. Although there was a town hall meeting in early April and a number of public hearings on the budget in recent weeks- there were still a number of citizens who showed up during the final budget meeting to express opposition.
