On Saturday, officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to Martin’s Market located at 739 Park Street for a shoplifting complaint. Upon the officers arrival they made contact with store security. Officers were informed by security that they observed a female later identified as Becky Lynn Riden placing store items inside her purse.
Riden was later observed at the checkout line paying for several additional items but never paid for the items inside her purse. Riden was stopped as she attempted to leave the store. Riden was found to be in possession of numerous items that were located inside her purse. Riden was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.
Riden was issued a criminal citation and later released pending her trial date in District Court.
