July 2nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The clock is ticking, and may have already expired, if sports teams between Allegany and Bishop Walsh will compete in the 2019/2020 academic year.  BW Principal Ray Kiddy tells WCBC he’s willing to meet with Alco officials to revisit the current situation…

So Allegany High School decided to no longer play Bishop Walsh because they lost a game playing basketball. What is that teaching the players? It must be ok to not try. How many other underdogs have won games? If Allegany High School drops teams from their sports schedule because they could loose why don’t they drop Fort Hill because Allegany has lost to Fort Hill in recent years. Did Bishop Walsh drop teams when they were getting beaten by 40, 50 and 60 points a game?

      > Recent years? They are going into their second decade without a FH football win. Maybe if we sweetened the sports schedule for girls with ‘participation trophy’s the negotiations could begin again. This is just silly.

This is football at the high school level. It would be great to include ALCO and BW in schedule. Just do it.
