Cohen Provides Updates on West Side Bridges

July 17th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

City Solicitor Michael Cohen presented the latest updates to the three west side bridges that have been closed for months with slow progress since. Despite the delays, Cohen mapped out a possible timeline for the Cumberland Street Bridge that could have a new bridge by the end of 2022.

However, the Washington Street Bridge may be the real challenge. One hurdle is obtaining funding for the project, coupled with the fact that using federal funds requires approval from historic organizations.

It’s important that we get the historic perspective on this bridge. After all, our forefathers went into bridge building during the Revolutionary War after completing most of the 13 colonies original airports.
