Columbia Street Incident Leads To Child Abuse Charges

An officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was contacted at the police station Saturday in reference to an assault that had just occurred on Columbia Street.

The victim told the officer that she had been arguing with her mother, Brandy Alisea McCloud. According to the victim during the argument her mother began punching and choking her. The victim advised the officer that she was able to push away from her mother and run out of the residence.

The victim was transported from the police station to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by the Cumberland Fire Dept. for the treatment of her non-life threatening injuries.

After completion of the interview process, officers responded to Columbia Street and placed Brandy Alisea McCloud under arrest. She was transported to the station for charges and processing. McCloud was taken to district court commissioner’s office for her initial appearance. As a result of the hearing McCloud was held on a $10,000.00 bond.
