Commissioners Fire back at Wind Mill critics

November 8th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Commissioner David Caporale on Thursday blasted opponents of the Dan’s Mountain Wind Mill project who he says are making false accusations and spreading misinformation.

The Allegany County Board of Zoning Appeals voted last month to permit the construction of 17 wind turbines on Dan's Mountain. The case, which first surfaced in 2015, has placed representatives of Dan's Mountain Wind Farm LLC against a citizens group opposed to the turbines called Allegany Neighbors and Citizens for Home Owners Rights Limited. Darlene Park is president of ANCHOR and she has suggested that the county commissioners may have been influenced to support the project as a result of campaign contributions from developer. Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr took exception to comments that have been made indicating that he will financially benefit from the project- and that he plans to move from his current home if the wind mills are eventually constructed…

Commissioners President Jake Shade said it’s disappointing to see some of the opponent questioning the objectivity of the members of the Zoning Appeals Board…

The NIMBY once again rears it’s ugly head.

… making false accusations and spreading misinformation. That’s Murica at it’s best. If you don’t have a reasonable argument in your favor try lying and casting aspersions.
It can get you elected. It’s been proven to work.

You’d expect this reaction when politicians are caught in the middle of scheme. Shame on you commissioners for selling out the beauty of our Mountain Maryland. Once this natural beauty is scared it’ll never be the same. STOP THE WINDMILLS!

      > The same argument was made with utility poles, phone poles, cell phone towers (they are building on in the Constitution Park – hardly visible) and water towers. How’d that work out for you? It’s progress, it is the future.

        >First of all, phone poles, cp towers etc., do not rotate, cause eye flicker, make noise. Secondly, they are not usually not over 500 tall and loom over 32000 of our residents within a 1 and 1/2 mile radius. It may have been “progress or the future” back in mid 1700′s Holland, but not today. Stick 17 of these monsters the size of the Washington Monument behind your house and see how you feel. Ask the people on 4 mile Ridge in Garrett County how they like them. Hardly visible? You will be able to see them from Rocky Gap!

I live in Bel Air and I haven’t seen anything asking how I feel about the wind mills being placed above my home.i believe it’s the county commissioner’s should be asking the family’s how they feel about the wind mills. That’s how to get elected to office is going out and asking the family’s how they feel about this project. I myself do Not want wind mills about my home

It is reassuring to see another local issue go all Hatfield and McCoy; carry on.

If you think windmills are a good thing, just go to Keyser and look at the mountain. Look at what they have to look at every single day. They look awful. Big decisions such as this should have to go up for an actual vote of the citizens, not be made by commissioners.

Are you complaining about something you have actual experience with, or just complaining?

      > You’re right! Bring back the good old days of polluting the rivers and streams, black lung disease and cave-ins. As long as we can’t see it. Ah, the good old days.

These windmills will bring in zero jobs! We are being used so others can make money. Shame on the commissioners.
