Commissioners Expected To Provide Maintenance Of Effort Funding Levels Again This Year

Tuesday will be a busy one for the Allegany County Board of Education with three sessions, kicking off with a 2PM budget meeting to discuss the superintendent’s proposed FY 2016 fiscal recommendations. It looks to be another difficult challenge for the board this year, as it’s likely the County Commissioners will provide only maintenance of effort funding levels again; and fewer dollars are expected from the state. While education officials as well as the state teachers union have been critical of Governor Larry Hogan’s proposed education funding plan, he says there have been no reductions in education funding…
