Commissioners Looking To Privatize Animal Care Business

With an eye toward privatizing the animal care business- the county commissioners on Thursday signed an agreement outlining that possibility with the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation. The commissioners also received an update about the organization’s plans for a capital campaign to raise money for a new care and adoption facility. Tina Rafferty, president of the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation, said that 1,157 animals were saved in 2012.  The foundation, along with about 250 volunteers, plans to save many more animals…

    Why were there no public hearings on this? There should have been a memorandum of understanding between the county and The ACSMF & public hearings on such memorandum.
