Commissioners Plan on Cuts in Taxes

Even though it’s a tight budget year with little or no increase in revenue streams- the Allegany County Commissioners plan to implement a cut in taxes. Beginning in 2011, the commissioners have voted each year to slightly reduce the property tax rate in an attempt to provide some tax relief for county residents. Commissioners President Jake Shade said it’s a testament to the fiscally conservative approach taken by the last two boards of county commissioners to be able to continue cutting taxes at a time when many local governments are going in the opposite direction…
