Railbanking Effort Expected to Provide Boost for Georges Creek Trail Project

If everything goes according to plan, communities along Georges Creek could see a 7.5-mile trail coming to their area, extending from the Great Allegheny Passage. The proposed trail would run from Braddock Estates to Barton, following Route 36 along Georges Creek. In a related action, the Allegany County Commissioners voted during their most recent meeting to approve an agreement with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The agreement outlined responsibilities for the railbanking related to the railbanking project along the Georges Creek Railway Corridor.
