The Allegany County Commissioners will conduct a round of budget hearings today. Among the highlights from this second day of presentations- requests from the board of education; the sheriff’s department; the office of the state’s attorney and the health department. The board of education will be seeking an increase of about a million dollars above last year’s allocation- although based on public comments coming from the commissioners and finance department in the past few months that appears unlikely. It is unlikely the board will receive much more than the $310,000 hike that is state mandated via the maintenance of effort formula.
