Commissioners Vote To Adopt Changes To Allegany Transit

After a public hearing last month and some revisions to the original proposal, the Allegany County Commissioners on Thursday voted unanimously to adopt some changes to the Allegany Transit bus system. When the initial changes were presented there were dozens of protests from regular bus riders about the proposed route changes, as well as concern with a recommendation to double the AllTrans rate. Some tweaks were made to the first plan, and they were presented publicly two weeks ago at a commissioners meeting in Lonaconing. Many of the same concerns remain for both riders and bus drivers- however Commissioners President Mike McKay said that something has to be done to reduce the costs of the service- realizing that not all of the changes are being well received…
