Commissioners Vote To Approve FY 2017 Budget

The Allegany County Commissioners on Thursday voted unanimously to approve the FY 2017 budget. Three public hearings were held in May with not one person choosing to comment during process.  The budget, which shows just 1.9% growth saw several agencies receive funding increases including the Board of Education, the Health Department, HRDC and the county Library System. In addition, for the sixth consecutive years, the commissioners approved an incremental reduction of 1/10 of a penny to the property tax rate. Commissioners President Jake Shade…
