Commissioners Vote To Authorize Sheriff’s Office And Cumberland Police Partnership

The Allegany County Commissioners on Thursday voted to authorize the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office to partner with Cumberland City Police in their grant entitled “Safe Streets Initiative through the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention”.  Sheriff Craig Robertson said that the grant, which is 100% funded by the state, will pay for the cost of overtime to help address the large percentage of crime in the city that is the result of a very small number of repeat offenders. Those individuals will be the primary target of this new program…
