Commissioners Will Meet on Synthetic Drugs

August 30th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Commissioners today will conduct a public hearing on a proposed local law designed to ban the manufacture, sale or possession of some synthetic drugs in the county. The drugs are often referred to as synthetic pot and often are lumped in with bath salts, although the drugs are somewhat different. The drugs can cause medical and psychological problems including cardiac disturbances, agitation, delirium, paranoia and psychosis. The proposed law was introduced at last week’s Allegany County Commission meeting and a required hearing before commissioners vote on the law is scheduled to take place at Thursday’s Allegany County Commission meeting. Although the hearing is today, many county leaders have already made their voices heard on the issue. School Superintendent Dr David Cox.
