As students in Maryland public schools go back to the classroom this week they will likely notice some changes to the curriculum. That is a result of the Common Core Standards being implemented this year in Maryland. State school officials say dozens of states across the country are implementing Common Core Standards in reading, language arts and math. It involves critical thinking and problem solving according to the State School Superintendent Lillian Lowery. She says it is about preparing students to graduate and for college and careers. Lowery believes that the curriculum created as part of the plan won't necessarily create additional homework for students but she believes it will be different homework…
