Competing Craft Beer Bills Puts Future Of MD Beer Industry At Stake

There are competing craft beer bills being considered by the Maryland General Assembly- and the future of the beer industry could be at stake.  House Bill 1052, sponsored by Delegates Talmadge Branch and Dereck Davis, proposes to roll back many of the changes enacted under a contentious measure the legislature passed last year in an effort to pave the way for a new Guinness brewery opening in Baltimore County. The bill quickly ignited a firestorm among craft brewers and their advocates, who took to social media to condemn the proposed changes.  Meanwhile Comptroller Peter Franchot has introduced his own legislation proposing to ease regulations on breweries. The issue is deemed an important one by House 1C candidate Nicole Alt Myers who says she is perplexed by the incumbent’s silence on the matter…
