With recent developments in the community involving a California kidnapping suspect applying for HUD housing in Cumberland it was suggested Wednesday morning on the Dave Norman Show that there is a disproportionate amount of HUD housing and related emergency services available for a city of this size. Also suggested was that the large amount of assisted housing available was acting as a magnet for troubled out-of-town individuals.
Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim acknowledged that there was a large amount of HUD housing credits available in the area however, that it was appropriated by the state and not the city of Cumberland.
