Concerns With Evitts Resort Company Being Worked Out

September 27th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

It’s been a bit of a roller coaster relationship thus far between the Evitts Resort Company and local elected officials; however recent talks suggest that some of the concerns are being addressed.  Evitts, which purchased the Rocky Gap Lodge and Resort with designs on opening a slots parlor,  is planning to open for the business of gaming late next summer or early fall. The Allegany County Commissioners major concern has centered on the company’s plans to convert 20,000 square feet of existing convention and meeting space into a slots parlor with a minimum of 500 video lottery terminals, a bar and a food outlet.  The loss of conference space will equate to a large loss of revenue for the county. Under the terms of the lease- the company is required to replace any conference space taken for slot machines within three years- however Commissioner Bill Valentine tells WCBC News that after a meeting last week that schedule is now more favorable. He said the design for the conference space is nearly complete- and could be completed next year…
