Confederate Statues Swiftly Removed in Baltimore

Days after a deadly neo-Nazi rally around a Confederate statue in Virginia, all four of Baltimore's Confederate monuments were taken away by city crews late Tuesday into early Wednesday. WBAL reports about a dozen city crews and private contractors were seen in Wyman Park, removing the Lee and Jackson Monument. Crews started getting ready around midnight Tuesday. By 3 a.m., crews had hooked the monument to a crane as a flatbed truck awaited nearby. City Councilman Brandon Scott, who sponsored the resolution to remove the statues, said he was grateful for the mayor’s decision- and would love nothing more than to see the former statues used to make a more appropriate monument…
